The design of the Soyuz MS-21 mission emblem is imbued with symbols reflecting the features of the upcoming flight, important memorable dates, and deep respect for the Alma Mater of all three crew members: Oleg Artemiev, Denis Matveev, and Sergey Korsakov, - the Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman.
A shield surrounded by oak and laurel branches symbolize strength, courage, valor, and courage. Those are the qualities that both cosmonauts and graduates of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University are proud of.
The gold stars at the bottom of the emblem stand for the crew of the expedition. And the coat of arms of the Russian Federation and fluttering pennants in the colors of the national flag at the very top emphasize that, for the first time since 2000, the crew of professional cosmonauts is completely Russian.
In the lower right corner, there is a profile of the founder of practical cosmonautics, Sergei Korolev, whose birthday in 2022 marks 115 years. In honor of this significant event for the whole of Russia, the Soyuz MS-21 crewed spacecraft located in the very heart of the emblem has been named after the great scientist, Korolev.
Traditionally, the logo of the Roscosmos State Corporation and the inscription Baikonur Cosmodrome 2022 are placed on the emblem.
